June 2022 I am a mixed media artist with a current body of work that is both two and three dimensional. By using nontraditional mediums of recycled, reclaimed and used objects with traditional mediums, my works transcend the objects and create new meaning. Making art during a time of isolation compounded with the end-of-life care and death of an ailing parent, my work focuses on the breath and the loss of community. My work has evolved to include themes of personal boundaries, and relationships between the individual and the community. COVID-19 has changed human conduct arising from changes in personal and societal constructs. I am interested in making art that explores and questions these previous and new constructs. Ideas about being lost to the self and found in the whole is centered in the work that I am making now. I’m interested in shining a light on humanity as a whole and how the individual cannot exist outside of the whole. My work questions where one boundary ends, and another begins and what causes those boundaries to be blurred?
